Abstract
The aim of this study to develop authentic assessment in assessing writing skill of
procedure text at SMA Nurul Islam Indonesia Baru Medan. The study was
conducted by using Research and Development (R&D) design adopted from
Borg, Gall and Gall (2003). The data was taken from the questionnaire and
interview to the English teacher. The developed writing assessment materials
were validated by an English lecturer and an English teacher by using validation
sheets which is adapted from BSNP. The developed assessment consists of three
competences, such as, attitude competence, knowledge competence, skill
competence and the topic of writing assessment focus on procedure text (manual
tips). The writing assessment have been validated by experts. The average score
are 3.73 in the form percentage it got 93.25% it was categorized “Very Good”. It
means the developing English writing assessment are appropriate for eleven grade
students at SMA Nurul Islam Indonesia Baru Medan.
