Abstract

This study concerns on the strategies used by teachers to enhance students' writing skills of narrative texts. This research raises the subject matter, namely "what strategies are used by the teacher" and "the reasons why teachers use teaching strategies". The purpose of this study was to discover what types of strategies were used by teachers in enhancing students' writing skills in narrative texts and to explain the reasons for teachers to use teaching strategies in writing at SMK Negeri 1 Patumbak. This research was conducted in grade X (Tenth) at SMK Negeri 1 Patumbak. This study used a qualitative descriptive method and data collection was carried out through interviews. The framework carried out is followed by Sugiyono (2008). Data were analyzed in two steps; Data Reduction and Data Display. The strategy used is based on the theory of Graham & Perin (2007). Based on the findings, there are seven strategies used by teachers in teaching narrative texts at SMK Negeri 1 Patumbak
