Abstract
The goal of this study were to know teaching strategies used by teachers in teaching
procedure text on English online learning and the extent strategies help the teachers.
A descriptive qualitative design was used in this study. The data and source of data
were two English teachers who teach at ninth grade at MTS PGA EX Proyek
UNIVA Medan. The data of this research was video transcript and interview which
taken from online classroom and the data were analyzed by using observation.
Based on the data analysis, the strategy that used bt both of teachers was discussion
and game stategies. The findings implied that the teachers in teaching writing start
in opening, main activity and the last closing. In opening, they always give greetings
and motivation to students. Before entering, the teacher invite students to discuss
and then explained the procedure text material in two languages, namely from
English and then translated into Indonesian. After finishing explaining the material,
the teacher practice the example of the procedure text then they give the students to
write procedure text and the practice the text. At the end of the lesson the teacher
concludes the material that has been learned today
