Grieving Process in Meghan O’Rourke’s Selected Poetry

This study aimed at analyzing the kind grieving process which represented in
Meghan O’Rourke’s Selected Poetry. The content analysis as one the design of
qualitative studies used to gain the findings of the data itself. From that findings, 5
selected poems from the antology book has been analyzed. And from those, an
amount of specific lines or stanzas filtered throught reciting selected poetry. Of
all the amount of specific lines or stanzas, it was found that all of the five poems
contained clauses indicated to stages of the grief. The data analysis also revealed
that the grieving process was realized in the specific line or stanza in the poem
through the diction, tone of voice, and symbol that analyzed both with linguistic
element of poetry and literary element of poetry. The instrument of this study was
comprehending the data from 5 selected poetry from anthology book and
highlighting significant lines or stanzas that indicate the grieving values. And
from that significant lines and stanza, the categorization would be easy to exctract
the data. Thus the writer found that grieving process that used also similar to
another various research hypotheses.
