Representation of Heteronormativity in Your Name Engraved Herein Movie: A Multimodal Content Analysis

This study aims to describe the visual meaning contained in a heternormative
scene in Your Name Engraved Herein movie using the multimodal theory by
Kress and Van Leeuwen. This research was conducted with qualitative
multimodal content analaysis method. The source of the data is taken from scenes
that come from Your Name Engraved Herein movie, where the pictures used as
data are the scenes that depicted a heteronormative activity. And the pictures
taken as data consist of 9 pictures, where all pictures are described through 3
metafunctions, namely Interactive meaning, Compositional meaning and
Representational meaning as the result for this research proposed by Kress and
Van Leeuwen theory. This study also reveals how the visual meaning represents
heteronormativity in the movie.
