Abstract
This study aims to analyze students' anxiety in oral classroom presentation. The
research was conducted using qualitative methods based on Sugiono's theory
(2012: 9) by collecting data, reducing data, displaying data, then writing
conclusions. Furthermore, to collect data, observation and interviews were carried
out. The data were taken from observations of presentation activities conducted by
class 8 T4 students at SMP Muhammadiyah 1 Medan, interviews with one of the
English teachers and also students who took part in the lesson. The results of this
study indicate that there are three aspects of students’ anxiety in oral classroom
presentation, namely communication apprehension, test anxiety, and fear of
negative evaluation. Then, the causes why students’ feel anxious in oral classroom
presentation are fear of being laughed, missunderstanding of what being said in
classroom, lack of preparation, over self-prediction towards fear, lack of
vocabulary, and lack of preparation.
