Abstract
Conflict is one way to build the dramatic side of a story. There is a quote that says "No conflict no drama". This study was focused on conflict. The purpose of this study are to find out the type of conflict experienced by Pak Domu as the main character in the film Missing Home, describe how Pak Domu deals with conflict, and find out the causes of Pak Domu experiencing conflict. The research was conducted using a qualitative descriptive method. The data of this research is script film. The source data are dialogues and statements in the script of Missing Home, analyzed based on Kenney's 1996 theory of conflict and Thomas and Klimann's 2007 theory of conflict-handling modes. Finding of this study found that the main character experiences two types of conflict, namely external conflict and internal conflict, the dominant category of conflict that occurs in the main character is man-against-man conflict. The main character's ways of dealing with conflict are avoiding, accommodating, collaborating, and compromising. Cause of main character's conflict is the consequence of his personality, a conservative father who strictly adheres to Batak's cultural customs and is extremely hard on his family.
