Abstract
This study is about the Teacher Strategies in Teaching Writing Descriptive Text.The purpose of this study was to identify what types of strategies are used by
teacher in teaching writing descriptive text. It was conducted by using descriptive qualitative research design. The subject of this research was one English teacher
of SMP Negeri 2 Tanjung Balai. The data was collected by doing an observation during the learning process and interview. The observation was used to describe
the Strategies that the teacher used in Teaching Writing Descriptive text. The results of the analysis showed that the teacher used four strategies in teaching
writing descriptive text, they were (1) Direct Teaching Strategy (2) Cooperative Learning Teaching Strategy (3) Mastery Learning Teaching Strategy (4) and
Problem Based Strategy.
