Abstract
This research aims to know how the Dictogloss technique can enhance students’
writing skill in descriptive text for tenth grade as MAN 1 Medan. The design of this
study was qualitative research. The subject of this study was the 10th graders of
MAN 1 Medan. The data were collected by doing observation, interview and
questionnaire to English teachers. Based on the interview in preliminary data
showed that the studets need was the interesting English writing learning technique
that is more interactive and innovative which can encourage students to be able to
speak actively in English. The appropriate learning technique was Dictogloss
technique. The result of this study showed that the technique implemented by the
teachers was effective to enhance students’ writing skill. In addition, this technique
is recommended to be implemented in learning process of writing descriptive text.
By implementing this technique hope will encourage students to write well.
