Abstract

The objectives of this study were to describe the implementation of Google
Classroom in teaching writing descriptive text and to investigate the students’
perception toward the implementation of Google Classroom as E-learning platform.
The study was conducted by using a descriptive qualitative design. The subject of
this study was the English teacher and the students in the tenth grade of MAN 1
Medan. The techniques of collecting data were observation, questionnaire, and
documentations. There are 5 stages in Implementing E-moderating such as access
and motivation, online socialization, information exchange, knowledge
construction, and development that did by the teacher during online teaching. The
result of this study pointed that there were four stages of the five stages used by the
teacher in implementing E-moderating. The online socialization stage was not
applied by the teacher. The teacher confirmed that direct classroom discussion was
better compared to online discussion. The students’ perception of Google
Classroom, are that easy to use and useful in learning English and it has influenced
the students to use and access this platform in learning English.
