Metaphor in onang-onang song

This study was about the use of metaphor in the onang-onang song. The goals of the study were: to find out the types of metaphor used in onang-onang song,describe the realization of each type, and explain the reasons of onang-onang song represent in the particular value. The descriptive-qualitative method was used in the analysis of metaphor. The onang-onang song that indicated in the wedding of ceremony became the data of this study. Types of metaphors in onang-onang songs can be realized inguistically by classifying each uttarences, from the 67 utterances there are 11 lines included in the three types of metaphors inonang-onang songs, as in conceptual metaphors found five uttarances that appear on the onang-onang song, there are two in orientational metaphors and four in ontological metaphors. The onang-onangsong can be realized in certain cultural values through a wedding ceremony inMandailing, it interpreted by tribal leader who know all of the meaning where each uttarences has a deep meaning. The results of the analysis showed that from eleven lines, in three types of metaphor there were applied in the onang-onang song, such as; conceptual metaphor (45.4%), ontological metaphor (36.3%), and orientational metaphor (18.1)%. So it can be concluded that conceptual metaphorsas high rating from the three types of metaphor.
