Abstract
This research was aimed to find out the lexical acquisition of one year old children. The objectives were to find out types of lexical items that acquired by
the children, the process in acquiring lexical items and the factors affected the children’s acquisition. The data were obtained from two Indonesian boys children
where the most of language use is Bahasa Indonesia. This study was located in Medan. In collecting the data, this study applied documentation with audio visual recorder and also interview session with the parents of the children. The technique of data analysis was descriptive qualitative and the data were described through the process of transcribing the data. The result of the observation showed that 69,6 % noun acquired by the children, 22,7 % verb acquired by the children, 6,06%
adjective of lexical items and 1,51% of adverb. Environment has a big support in children language acquisition it can be showed in result of question number two which shows that imitation has the higher percentage 92,9%, and followed by universal grammar 7,10% and the last is reinforcement which did not find in any
conversation.
