DEVELOPING WRITING MATERIAL OF PROCEDURE TEXT IN PICTURE SERIES FOR GRADE TENTH OF YAYASAN PENDIDIKAN SMA KEBANGSAAN

This research is aimed as developing writing materials in procedure text using picture series. This study was conducted using R & D method of Borg & Gall (2003). The research took place at Yayasan Pendidikan SMA Kebangsaan. The sample was class X that consists of 16 students. The evaluators of materials were two experts. The instruments employed in this study were questionnaire and interview. The findings of the study were the quality of the developed writing materials using picture series viewed from the experts were very good (93 %). The final product of the pictures media is continued with shared questionnaires to the students to know the students’ response about the material. Most students gave positive responses. Most students said that the material is interesting and it can help them to understand procedure text easily. The scoring system was based on five aspects; they are content, organization, vocabulary, language use, mechanics. Therefore, the writer suggests to English teacher to develop writing material by using picture series to increase the students’ ability in writing procedure text.
