Abstract
This study was conducted as an attempt to discover the effect of applying Select-Teach-Activate-Revisit Technique on students’vocabulary achievement inreading. It was an experimental research. The subject was students of Grade VIII,Junior High School (Sekolah Menengah Pertama: SMP), which consisted of 68students. The research was divided into two groups: experimental and controlgroups. The instrument used to collect the data was vocabulary test. To obtain thereliability of the test, the writer applied Kuder Richardson 21 formula. The resultof the reliability was 0.79, and it was found that the test was reliable. The datawere analyzed by using t-test formula. The analysis showed that the scores of thestudents in the experimental group were significantly higher than the scores of thestudents in the control group at the level of significant  = 0.05 with the degree offreedom (df) 66, t-observed value 3.21 > t-table value 2.00. The findings indicatethat using Select-Teach-Activate-Revisit Technique significantly affected thestudents vocabulary achievement in reading. So, English teachers are suggestedto use Select-Teach-Activate-Revisit Technique in order to improve studentsvocabulary achievement in reading.
