Abstract
The purposes of this study was to know that problem-based learning model could increase students’ mathematical problem-solving ability in grade XII at SMA Negeri 1 Perbaungan. The design of this research is Classroom Action Research (CAR). The object of this research is mathematical problem-solving ability. The subject of this research is all students in class XII MIA U SMA Negeri Perbaungan academic year 2018/2019 consist of 38 students. The result of this research are: (1) In the first cycle students who are able to reach the minimum value above are 21 or about 55.3% of 38 students and the second cycle students who are able to reach the minimum value above are 34 or about 89.47% of 38 students, (2) Students’ activities data in the cycle I was obtained the average of students’ activities score is 50.6% in passive group category and in the cycle II obtained the average of students’ activities score is 83.6% in the active group category. From the result research, it can be concluded that the implementation of problem-based learning model is effective to increase students’ problem solving ability.
