TRANSLINGUAL NEGOTIATION STRATEGIES USED IN WATTPAD NOVEL “DADDYS’ DAY OUT”

This thesis examines the utilization of translingual negotiation strategy in Daddys‘ Day Out Wattpad Novel written by Renita Nozaria thzaria through the lens of
several translingual theory, including Canagarajah‘s (2013) the categories of tranlingual negotiation strategies, and Kellman (2000), who highlights the fluidity and interconnectedness of languages in translingual communication. The study aims to identify and categorize the categories of translingual negotiation strategies
in multilingual wattpad novel, analyze the realization in that wattpad novel, and explore the social context realization of translingual negotiation strategies. Using
a qualitative content analysis methodology, this research involved systematic analysis of narration and dialogue in the wattpad novel. The finding reveal that Daddys‘ Days Out wattpad novel utilizes thirteen out of fourteen categories of translingualism negotiation strategies, including envoicing (approximation, word coinage, foreignization, and code switching/code mixing), recontextualization
(contextualization, accommodation, and using language variety in every dialog), interactional (confirmation check, clarification check, comprehension check) and extentualization (simplification, segmentation and regularization). This study contributes to a deeper understanding of the complexity and impact of translingualism negotiation strategies in wattpad novel, and scholars in the field.
