Abstract
This study focused on teacher’s strategies in teaching reading narrative text by
providing an animation video in SMA Negeri 2 Medan. In this study, the researcher
used descriptive qualitative research to analysis teacher’s teaching strategies in the
teaching reading narrative text in SMA Negeri 2 Medan. This study was taken two
english teacher of SMA Negeri 2 Medan. This study was conducted to found the
teacher’s strategies and the learning process in teaching reading narrative text by
providing an animation video in SMA Negeri 2 Medan. The technique of collecting
data using observation and interviews by voice recording. The findings showed that
the teacher’s strategies that used by two teachers are 3 categories, namely; meta
cognitive strategies, cognitive strategies, and socio-affective strategies applied in
the class by using animation video to in teaching reading narrative text. the process
of teaching learning narrative text are pre-reading, while-reading, and post-reading
activities.
