Abstract
The goal of this study was to identify the procedure of Project Based Learning that was implemented in teaching writing narrative text based on Stoller’s (2006)
theory. This study also analyzed the teacher’s challenges in implementing it. The study was conducted using a descriptive qualitative method that involved an English teacher. Both observation and interviews were used to get the data. The
result of this study found that (1) The teacher implemented five out of eight procedures namely, pre-communicative, designing a project plan, creating project timeline, finishing the project, and evaluating the project results. (2) There are four challenges for implementing Project Based Learning such as shifting the instruction, time for planning and implementing, managing the project, and assessing the project to determine a grade.
