Abstract
This study aimed to investigate the aspects of culture and to explain how the cultural sense are represented. This study utilized qualitative research with content
analysis methodology. The source of data is an English textbook entitled “Interactive English” for Grade VII students of junior high school published by Yudhistira. The data were identified and analyzed using the theory the aspects of culture by Yuen (2011) and how the cultural sense are represented by Adaskou, Britten, and Fahsi (1990). Based on the findings of the study, four aspects of culture were found: products, persons, practices, and perspectives. The result of content analysis based on cultural aspects of Yuen in the textbook is dominated by products at 46%, followed by persons at 28%, practices at 21%, and lastly,
perspectives being the smallest at just 5%. Moreover, in cultural sense by Adaskou, Britten, and Fahsi (1990), the cultures had been frequently represented by aesthetic sense as compared to sociological sense, pragmatic sense, and
semantic sense. Furthermore, this study discovered an imbalanced quantity among the given cultures. As a result, this finding recommends that English textbook
authors must consider the depiction of stability among products, practices, persons, and perspectives.
