Abstract

The objectives of this study are to analyze the types of teacher-students interaction patterns that used for grade X at SMA Negeri 4 Pematangsiantar and to find out the reason why the teacher-students interaction patterns occured in the classroom according to the teacher. This research was conducted by using descriptive qualitative method. The data was gathered through the observation while the teaching-learning process interviewed the English teacher, and video recording in order to analyze the types of teacher-students interaction patterns that used in the classroom. The study‟s result is the types of interaction patterns that used in the
classroom were six, namely Teacher inform, Teacher direct, Teacher elicit,Student Inform, Student elicit and Checking.
