Abstract

This study aims to develop interesting learning media in descriptive text writing using an Articulate Storyline for grade X of SMAS Budisatrya Medan. This study used a Research and Development (R & D) design through six stages; collecting
information and data, analyzing data, designing media, validating by experts, revising, and final product. The participants of this study were grade X students of SMAS Budisatrya Medan located on Jl. Letda Sujono No. 166, Medan City. Data were collected by interviewing English teacher and distributing questionnaires to 35 respondents to obtain student needs. The results of interviews and questionnaires prove that students need an English learning media that can motivate them to understand descriptive writing. Therefore, a medium was created and developed based on student needs after collecting the data. The final result of this study was a learning media to be used in learning English descriptive text based on Problem- Based Learning (PBL). Experts have validated this product. The percentage of media from experts were 89.15%, categorized as "Very Good". It means that the development of English media for writing descriptive texts was suitable for use by grade X students at SMAS Budisatrya Medan.
