Abstract
This research aims to determine the types of women's roles and describe the
depiction of women's roles in the film "Women Talking 2022" through the theory
of Bouta and Frerks (2002). This research data is in the form of images of scenes
showing the role of women in the film "Women Talking 2022," which were taken
via screen capture or screenshot. The research method in this study uses
descriptive qualitative. Taylor, Bogdan, and DeVault define qualitative research
as research that produces descriptive data in spoken or written words and the
actions of the individuals studied. This research shows that 39 scenes depicted
women's roles and five types of women's roles found in the film "Women Talking
2022". The types of women are 1. women as victims, 2. women as combatants, 3.
women as peace activists, 4. Women as coping and survival actors, and 5. Women
as heads of households. The researcher concluded that many women roles are
depicted in "Women Talking 2022"; there are 39 scenes of several characters in
the film. Next, each type of women's role is explained using semiotics to
determine the type of women's roles by the theory of Bouta and Frerks (2002).
