Abstract
The study investigates the perceptions of eighth-grade students at SMP Negeri 1
Siantar regarding the use of animation videos in their English classes. Drawing
upon Thoha's framework on perception as a cognitive process, the research
employed qualitative descriptive methods. Findings revealed that a significant
majority, 87% of students, expressed positive views towards the incorporation of
animation videos, while 13% held negative opinions. Furthermore, factors
influencing perceptions were examined, leading to the conclusion that students
equally attribute their views to both internal and external factors, with each
category representing 50%. This balanced perspective indicates that while
students generally appreciate animation as a learning tool, multiple influences
shape their perceptions.
