Abstract

The aim of this research is to analyze the existing worksheet on narrative text material and to develop an electronic-based student worksheet on the topic of narrative text. This research was conducted at SMA Negeri 2 Medan using Borg and Gall (2003) research and development (R&D) model, which included; data and information gathering, needs analysis, product development, expert validation, product revision, and product finalization. The subjects of this research were 34 class X students of SMA Negeri 2 Medan. This research collected data through observation of the existing worksheet, interview with an English teacher,
and the distribution of questionnaires to 34 students. The results suggested that the existing student worksheet lacked the variety of media to effectively deliver the lessons, improve students' skills, and keep them engaged in the class. Students require an E-worksheet to develop their understanding and speaking skills in narrative texts. As a result, an E-worksheet on narrative texts was developed using Heyzine to assist students hone their understanding and comprehension skills of narrative texts and speaking skills, increase their interest and participation in learning, and lighten the teacher's workload. The E-worksheet was validated by two experts and received an average score of 89%. This score indicates that the E�worksheet developed is very valid and suitable to use for tenth-grade students of SMA Negeri 2 Medan
