Abstract
This study discusses about translation used by English teacher in teaching analytical exposition text writing. The purpose of the study were to investigate how translation is used in teaching by teacher in translating analytical exposition text and to describe the reason why the teacher uses translation in teaching writing analytical exposition text. The English instructor at SMK PAB 2 Helvetia served
as the study's subject. Because the researcher did not conduct any experiments or apply any treatments, the study was carried out as a descriptive qualitative study. Creswell states that descriptive studies are aimed for uncovering fact about actual occurrences through the process of collecting data, classifying data, analyzing data, and interpreting depending on the analysis result. Interviews and observation were the methods used to gather data for the study. The study's findings demonstrated that English teacher often translate while explaining grammar, conveying meaning, and checking meaning of words or sentences. The use of translation makes students more understanding about the topic. This technique very helpful in teaching English. The benefits of adopting this study can improve and enrich students’ vocabulary
