Abstract
The purpose of this research was to discover the code of television and the
representation of female characters in the serial drama “Sweet Home” (2020). The
research method used was a qualitative method; the source of data was 10
episodes of the serial drama, and the data was carried through dialogue and visual
images of female characters in the serial drama. The data collection technique
used documentary techniques, while the research instrument used documentary
sheets. The technique of analyzing data used descriptive qualitative methods. The
results showed that out of 25 scenes featuring eight female characters, 1) From the
level of reality, three female characters had tomboyish appearances, while the
other five had feminine appearances. 2) From the level of representation, eight
female characters show a strong image, and two female characters use harsh
language and intonation. 3) From the level of ideology, the female character
shows resistance to injustice, is democratic and fair, and supports other women.
The representation of female characters shows that they have high morality and a
sense of responsibility, support fellow women, and have the right to express
opinions and voice feminism.
