Abstract
This research aims to determine teachers' strategies in classroom management, analyze
the challenges teachers faced in managing the classroom and find out the
implementation of classroom management as the way teachers do. This research was
conducted on 2 English teachers who taught at the tenth grade. This research used
descriptive qualitative design as a research method. The techniques of data collection
were observation and interview by using audio recording. While in analyzing the data,
the researcher used data reduction, data display and drawing conclusion. The results of
this research showed (1) strategies of classroom management applied by 2 English
teachers are divided into 2 types, namely; classroom management prevention and
classroom management intervention. Classroom management prevention divided into
2 types, namely classroom rules and seating arrangement. While classroom
management intervention divided into 2 types, namely cognitive intervention and
behavioral intervention. (2) The challenges faced by English teachers in managing
classroom are divided into 2 aspects, namely instructional challenges and behavioral
challenges. (3) The implementation of classroom management has 3 steps, namely
preparation, applying rules and routines and using low-profile intervention
