Abstract

This research was conduct at SMA Negeri 14 Medan with the background the assessment tool used by the teacher still refers to the measurement of Low Order Thinking Skill (LOT) and also Medium Order Thinking Skill (MOT). However, it is possible to do a combination of the two levels of thinking, namely LOT and MOT. Teacher still rarely used HOTS Literacy based cognitive assessment tools. This study aims to develop a HOTS Literacy based cognitive ssessment tools, determine the feasibility of assessment tools on acid base material and get students response to the product. The type of this research is research and development (R&D) by using the 4D model (Define, Design, Develop, Disseminate). The data obtained by distributing questionnaires and conducting pretest-posttest, then calculated based on the formula and then described. The validation was validated by 5 validators consisting of 4 material expert validators and 1 practitioner expert validator, the level of feasibility of assessment tools resulted in an average percentage of 83% with the high and valid/feasible category. By conducting a limited trial, the N-Gain value of the students was obtained, which was 0.66 in the medium category and the responses given by students to assessment tools, the criteria were very good with an average percentage of 97%. Overall, shows that the HOTS Literacy based cognitive assessment tools on acid base material has been categorized properly.
