Abstract
The research dealt with the VAK learning styles and learning strategies used by the
students in speaking English. The aims of this study (1) to know students VAK
learning styles of the students at SMK Swatsa Bina Satria (2) to know how the
students’ strategies in speaking English used by the students of SMK Swasta Bina
Satria. This study used descriptive qualitative design. The data were collected by using
questionnaire, observation and interview. The findings of this study revealed that (1)
the VAK learning styles that have been found in the classroom are Visual learning
styles 23%, Auditory learning styles are60% and Kinesthetic learning styles 17%. The
most dominant learning styles that students used is Auditory learning styles. (2) For
how the learning strategies that students used in speaking English during the learning
process, the students used almost all the learning strategies. Cognitive strategy aims to
acquire more new knowledge and improve their speaking English ability.
Metacognitive strategy aims to solve speaking English problem. And social affective
strategy aims to explain more details about what the material.
