Abstract

This research was aimed to elaborate the cognitive levels HOTS-based in reading
questions of English Summative test based on Revised Bloom’s Taxonomy. In
addition, this research was also aimed to find out the composition of HOTS-based
in reading questions of English Summative test at MA YAPNI Lubuk Pakam. This
research was descriptive qualitative research. The data was reading question of
English Summative test grade X and XI. The source of data was final examination
grade X and XI from English teacher at MA YAPNI Lubuk Pakam. The instrument
used in this research was observation sheet. The data was collected by documentary
technique. The result showed that there were two cognitive levels HOTS-based in
this research, namely Analyze (C4) and Evaluate (C5). For grade X, Analyze was
obtained 5 (20.8%) items, Evaluate was obtained 1 (4.1%) item and there is no
question (0%) for Create. For grade XI, Analyze was obtained 2 (12.5%) items, and
there is no question for Evaluate and Create. The composition of HOTS-based in
reading question has not a good composition in English Summative test at MA
YAPNI Lubuk Pakam.
