Abstract
Language in classroom determines the success of teaching and learning activities
and as well as the medium to enhance students’ knowledge acquisition in the
classroom (Nunan, 1991). The objective of the study was known to identify types
of Language style used in teachers’ feedback and to analyze the factors of
Language style used in teachers’ feedback at SMA Methodist 7 Medan the way it
is. By using class observation and interview directly from school but with limited
duration. From the findings showed that the types of language style also found
that the most dominant type used by English teachers at SMA Methodist 7 Medan
was casual language style that implied that teacher want to create a fun and relax
teaching learning process by using the casual language style (70 %). Then, the
findings also showed that there was one additional reason found as the cause that
triggered the use of language style by English teacher, namely habitual reason.
Then, the most dominant reason caused the use of language style by the English
teacher at SMA Methodist 7 Medan in their feedback was function (50%).
