Abstract

This research aims to determine the influence of the application of the SETS PBL learning model on the learning outcomes of class VIII SMP Negeri 35 Medan and determine the influence of the application of the SETS PBL learning model on the learning activities of class VIII students of SMP Negeri 35 Medan. The type of research used is quasi-experimental with nonequivalent control group design as a research design. The sample of this research is 60 students of class VIII SMP Negeri 35 Medan. Class VIII5 as the experimental class and class VIII6 as the control class. The research instrument used was in the form of 10 items of essay questions and student activity observation sheets. Data collection techniques used are test and observation. The results of this study indicate a significant influence on student learning outcomes. The average student learning outcomes in the experimental class is greater than the control class, namely the experimental class value is 73.83 and the control class value is 44.9. The average of student’s leraning activities increase in third meeting with score of 84,5. The results of the t-test independent samples test showed that the 2-tailed significance <0.005. The results of data analysis shows (1) PBL SETS have positive influence in increasing student learning outcomes in the experimental class of class VIII students of SMP Negeri 35 Medan on the material of Liquid Pressure. (2) PBL SETS have positive influence in increasing student learning outcomes in the experimental class of class VIII students of SMP Negeri 35 Medan on the material of Liquid Pressure.
