Abstract

This study analyzed students’ perception on the use of facebook group in teaching
recount text. The purpose of the study were to find out students’ perception on the
use of facebbok group in teaching recount text. The research design in this study
was mix method which was a combination of qualitative and quantitative
approaches. The researher used purposive sampling to choose the sample of the
research. The participants engaged in this research were totally 10 students at
SMP Swasta Parulian 2 Medan to answer questionaire and 3 students among all
respondents were also distributed structure interview through written papers to
support the result of questionaire. The data was collected through sequential
explanatory strategy. The results showed that students’ motivation to learn writing
recount text through facebook group was very high, and they expected the
facebook group would help them develop writing skills especially recount text.
However, their initiative to use facebook group got the lowest positive responses
due to their were not used to learning various media and took peer’s comment
eventhough they liked learning writing recount text from social media.
