Abstract
This study aims to determine the effect of teaching methods and teacher communication skills on student achievement in class XI SMK Budi Agung Medan for the 2020/2021 academic year. This study aims to determine whether there is an influence of teaching methods and teacher communication skills on student learning achievement in the subject of personnel.
This research is an ex-post facto research with a quantitative approach. The population in this study was 90 students in class XI SMK Budi Agung Medan for the academic year 2020/2021, with a sample of 90 students using the total sampling technique. Data collection techniques in this study were using documentation, interviews, and questionnaires. The analytical method used is multiple regression analysis.
The results of this study indicate that: 1) partially for the teaching method variable, the value of t_count is 0.069 > t_table 1.667 at the significance level (5%) then Ha is accepted and H0 is rejected. This means that the teaching method variable has a positive and significant influence on student achievement. 2) partially for the teacher's communication ability variable, the value of t_count is 0.069 > t_table 1.667, then Ha is accepted and H0 is rejected. This means that the teacher's communication skills have a positive and significant influence on student learning achievement. 3) Simultaneously, the value of f_count is 0.053 < f_table 1.667 with a significant value of 0.949 <0.05. This means that Ha1.2 is accepted so that it can be concluded that the third hypothesis which states there is a positive and significant influence between teaching methods and teacher communication skills together on student learning achievement is accepted, the magnitude of the influence between teaching methods and teacher communication skills has a strong enough influence with a determination value of 35.2% on student achievement in class XI SMK Budi Agung Medan. While the remaining 64.8% is influenced by other things outside the study.
