Abstract
This research deals with students’ multilingualism acquisition. The objectives of this research were: 1) to investigate types of multilingualism acquired by the students, 2) to describe the process of multilingualism aspects acquired by the students, and 3) to explain the factors make the students acquire multilanguage. This research was conducted by using descriptive qualitative research. The data were script of interview and questionnaire and the source of the data were eight students acquire multilingual at SMP Negeri 1 Bambel at Cinta Damai, Bambel, Aceh Tenggara. The finding showed that 1) there were two types of multilingualism acquired by students, namely receptive and productive. It included of four students (50%) who are receptive, namely MFA, AA, PHM and SAR. while four students (50%) are productive, namely OAR, MH, RR dan SS. 2)there were two processes of multilingualism which found on students’ interview at SMP Bambel, Cinta Damai, namely multilingualism secluded and multilingualism simultaneously. Moreover, there were three students (37.5%) who acquired multilingualism scluded, namely SS, OAR, and SAR. While five students (62.5%) who acquired multilingualism simultaneously, namely MH, MFA, AA, PHM , and RR. And there nobody acquired multilingualism two systems. 3) Factors that influence the acquisition of language they acquire are first language factors and environmental factors. Based on the research finding that first language factor balanced with social environment factor.
