Abstract
This research deals with lexical metaphor which found in novel and film Critical Eleven. The objectives of this study were : (1) to investigate the kinds of lexical metaphor in novel and film critical eleven, (2) to describe the linguistic realization of lexical metaphor in novel and film, (3) to elaborate the reason for the use of lexical metaphor in novel and film. The research design of this study was descriptive qualitative research where the researcher explained the result of research by describing the data gained. There were 119 utterances which contained of lexical metaphor in novel and 15 utterances which contained of lexical metaphor in film. There were seven kinds found in novel, specifically 34.45% for noun-verb, 28.57% for noun-adjective, 16.80% for noun-noun, 5.89% for noun-verb/adjective-circumstance, and 10.09% for verb-adjective, 2.52% for noun-adjective/noun, 1.68% for noun-verb/noun. Meanwhile, in film, there were 5 kinds found in film, specifically, 33.33% for noun-verb, 26.67% for noun-verb/adjective-circumstance, 20% for noun-noun, 13.33% for noun-adjective, and 6.66% for verb-adjective. Furthermore lexical metaphor is linguistically realized by comparing one word with another word.
