DEVELOPING WRITING MATERIALS FOR THE ELEVENTH GRADE STUDENTS OF TELADAN VOCATIONAL SCHOOL

This study concerns on how the appropriate writing materials was developed for vocational school. This study was conducted by using Research and Development (R&D) design through three stages; 1) evaluation and need analysis, 2) developing writing materials, 3) materials validation. The subjects of this study research was class XI SMK 1 Teladan Sumatera Utara consisting of 23 students and an English teacher of accounting study program. Instrumentations used for collecting data were interview, documentation and questionnaire. The data from evaluation and need analysis were analyzed in the descriptive analysis and the data from experts’ judgment results were using quantitative data analysis. The result of this study was an English writing material especially procedure text which consist of title, definition, observing, identifying, producing and reflection. The appropriate topics materials based on the result of need analysis are Make writing for business and How to make a balance sheet accounting. Based on the experts’ judgment result, the score was 88,5 which belong to good category based on Dirgeyasa (2011), since the range is 70-89.
