Abstract
The aims of this study were: 1) to investigate how is the existing media used in
teaching speaking skill at computer and network engineering program of SMKN1
Beringin. 2) to design interactive media of teaching speaking skill by using adobe
flash CS3 at computer and network engineering program of SMKN1 Beringin be
designed. This study followed the steps of research and development by adopting
Sugiyono’s phases, which are 1) collecting data (need analysis); 2) design of
product (design the flowchart and story board); 3) validation of product; 4)
revision of product (design the final product). It was found that 71% students said
that the teachers used common media such as English pocket book and power
point presentation in teaching. 98% students said that they need media which can
help them learning individually. The interactive learning media were designed
into 4 units of speaking materials. The interactive learning media were then
validated by two experts. The instrument of validation was by using
questionnaires with Likert scale 1-4 The average score of the validation was 3.72.
It showed that the product of interactive learning media is appropriate to use an
interactive learning media in teaching speaking skill.
