Abstract
The aim of this study was to develop multimedia-based reading materials for procedure text at SMK Shandy Putra Medan. This study was conducted by using Research and Development (R&D) design. The data were gathered by
administering interview to English teacher and distributing questionnaire to 33 respondents to get the students’ needs. The interview and questionnaire results
prove that the students need multimedia-based reading materials which contain and related to multimedia. Thus, the developing multimedia-based materials are procedure text which is how to install office 2010. The product has been validated by experts. The average scores are 4.6 or percentage 92.17 from English teacher and 4.4 or percentage 89.56 from English lecturer. It means the development of materials categorized as relevant or appropriate for students of Multimedia program grade XI
