Abstract
Problems in this research is correlation between student’s interest in reading and motivation with learning achievements in social science grade 11th in SMA Negeri 1 Tebing Tinggi at academic year 2016/2017. This research is aimed to find out whether there is a positive and significant correlation between student’s interest in reading and motivation with learning achievements in social science grade 11th in SMA Negeri 1 Tebing Tinggi at academic year 2016/2017. This research was held in SMA Negeri 1 Tebing Tinggi is located at Jl. K.L Yos Sudarso, Tanjung Marulak. The type of research is expost facto research. The population in this research were all students in social science grade 11th in SMA Negeri 1 Tebing Tinggi. The sample in this research is 25% of total population. 25% of 117 amounted 30 students. The data collection techniques are observation, interviews, documentation, and questionnaires. Validity test to analyze the inquiry list used Product Moment formula, and the reliability was acquired by using Cronbach alpha formula. Data analysis techniques which was used in this research is Multiple Correlation and t test and f test were used to prove the hypothesis. Based on from the t test analysis result for variable Interest in Reading (X1) obtained tcount value of 3,107 > ttable of 1,701 with an alpha of 5%. This means interest in reading has a positive and significant correlation with students’s learning achievements and for the variable motivation (X2) obtained tcount value of 3,612 > ttable of 1,701 with an alpha of 5%. This means that motivation has a positive and significant correlation with the student’s learning achievements. While the F test is done by comparing the result of Fcount > Ftable (67,074 > 4,21). While for the Ftable with an alpha of 5%. Therefore it can be concluded that there is correlation positive and significant between interest in reading and learning motivation with the student’s learning achievements in social science grade 11th in SMA Negeri 1 Tebing Tinggi at academic year 2016/2017.
