Abstract

The aim of this research is to know whether there is no or the difference ofstudents’ mathematics learning outcomes taught by ARCS learning model andtaught by TAI learning model. The research method is quasi experiment. Thepopulation is all students SMP Negeri 3 Medan. The sample of this researchconduct two classes and consist of 26 students, VIIN as experimental class I taughtby ARCS learning model and VIIO as experimental class II taught by TAIlearning model.The taking sample by cluster random sampling. This research usingposttest only. From the result of conditional test of data, all of data from posttestare normal distribution and homogeneous. There are ten problem for posttest. Allthe problem are valid.The result of the research shows that the means score are 7.88 inexperiment class I and 7.04 in experiment class II. Descriptively, can see that themeans score of posttest the students’ mathematics learning outcomes taught byARCS learning model higher than TAI learning model. Therefore in hypothesisusing posttest data obtained that tcalculated > t tab le= 1.697 > 1.676 with a = 0.05 soconsequently Ha is accepted. It means that the students’ mathematics learningoutcomes taught by Attention, Relevance, Confidence, Satisfaction learningmodel is better than taught by Team Assisted Individualization learning model. Somathematics teacher of SMP Negeri 3 Medan suggested can use ARCS learningmodel as learning model alternative in improving students’ mathematics learningoutcomes.
