Abstract

Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah: 1) untuk mengetahui perbedaan kemampuan berpikir kritis siswa yang mengikuti pendekatan pembelajaran open-ended dan siswa yang diajar dengan pembelajaran konvensional, 2) untuk mengetahui perbedaan kemampuan berpikir kritis siswa yang memiliki sikap belajar tinggi dan siswa yang memiliki sikap belajar rendah, 3) untuk mengetahui ada tidaknya interaksi antara pendekatan pembelajaran dengan sikap belajar dalam mempengaruhi kemampuan berpikir kritis siswa. Penelitian ini merupakan studi quasi eksperimen di tingkat SMP dengan subjek populasinya adalah siswa kelas VIII SMP Negeri 28 Medan dengan mengambil 2 kelas sebagai sampel penelitian yakni kelas VIII-C sebagai kelas eksperimen dan VIII-D sebagai kelas kontrol. Sampel dipilih secara acak dari 7 rombongan kelas belajar. Instrumen yang digunakan untuk mengumpulkan data dalam penelitian ini terdiri dari tes kemampuan berpikir kritis siswa pada pokok bahasan lingkaran, angket skala Likert untuk mengetahui sikap belajar tinggi dan rendah. lnstrumen tersebut dinyatakan telah memenubi syarat validitas isi, serta koefisien reliabilitas sebesar 0.736 dan 0.820 berturut-turut untuk kemampuan berpikir kritis dan sikap belajar.Hasil analisis (ANAVA) diperoleh hasil penelitian yaitu: l) kemampuan berpikir kritis siswa yang diajarkan dengan pendekatan open-ended berbeda secara signifikan dibandingkan dengan siswa yang diajarkan melalui pendekatan pembelajaran konvensional pada taraf signifikansi 5%, 2) kemampuan berpikir kritis siswa yang memiliki sikap belajar tinggi berbeda secara signifikan dibandingkan dengan siswa yang memiliki sikap belajar rendah. Besarnya nilai signifikan yang diperoleb dari ANAVA 0,001 < nilai taraf signifikan 5%, 3) terdapat interaksi antara pendekatan pembelajaran dengan sikap belajar yang dimiliki siswa. Besarnya nilai signifikan yang diperoleh dari ANAVA 0,000 > nilai taraf signifikan 5%.Berdasarkan hasil penelitian, maka peneliti menyarankan agar para guru matematika disekolah dapat menggunakan pendekatan pembelajaran open ended dalam pembelajarannya, dan dapat memperhatikan karakteristik siswa terutama sikap belajar yang dimilikinya, karena pendekatan open ended dan sikap belajar adalah salah satu factor meningkatkan kemampuan berpikir kritis siswa.
