Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui perbedan hasil belajar siswa yang menggunakan model pembelajaran problem solving dengan model pembelajaran konvensional pada materi pokok kelarutan dan hasil kali kelarutan di kelas XI SMA Negeri 7 Medan T.P 2011/2012 dan aktivitas belajar siswa saat menggunakan model pembelajaran problem solving dengan pembelajaran konvensional.Jenis penelitian ini adalah quasi eksperimen. Populasi dalam penelitian adalah seluruh siswa kelas XI IA Semester Genap SMA Negeri 7 Medan yang terdiri dari 6 kelas. Pengambilan sampel dilakukan dengan cara purposive sampling dengan mengambil 2 kelas dari 6 kelas dimana kelas XI IA-6 sebagai kelas eksperimen dan kelas XI IA-4 sebagai kelas kontrol. Kelas eksperimen berjumlah 38 orang dan kelas kontrol berjumlah 33 orang. Instrumen yang digunakan untuk mengetahui hasil belajar siswa adalah tes hasil belajar dalam bentuk pilihan berganda berjumlah 20 soal dan lembar observasi aktivitas siswa. Tes hasil belajar terlebih dahulu divalidkan kepada validator ahli sebelum diujikan. Dari hasil penelitian diperoleh nilai rata-rata pretes kelas eksperimen 30,39 dengan standar deviasi 10,8 dan nilai rata-rata kelas kontrol 27,27 dengan standar deviasi 9,85. Berdasarkan hasil uji normalitas dan uji homogenitas pada data hasil tes kedua kelompok tersebut diperoleh bahwa data kedua sampel normal dan homogen. Setelah pembelajaran selesai diberikan, diperoleh nilai rata-rata postes pada kelas eksperimen yang menggunakan model pembelajaran berdasarkan masalah sebesar 73,95 dengan standar deviasi 14,85 dan pada kelas kontrol yang menggunakan pembelajaran konvensional sebesar 66,06 dengan standar deviasi 13,33. Selanjutnya, berdasarkan analisis uji-t dua pihak diperoleh thitung = 2,321 sedangkan untuk ttabel = 1,997 sehingga thitung > ttabel. Oleh karena itu Ha diterima dan Ho ditolak. Hal ini berarti ada perbedaan yang signifikan antara hasil belajar siswa yang menggunakan model pembelajaran problem solving dengan hasil belajar siswa yang menggunakan pembelajaran konvensional, sehingga dapat disimpulkan bahwa Terdapat perbedaan hasil belajar siswa yang menggunakan model pembelajaran problem solving dengan pembelajaran konvensional pada materi pokok kelarutan dan hasil kali kelarutan di kelas XI SMA Negeri Medan T.P 2011/2012.
