Abstract

The purposes of this research are: (1) To understand the ability increase mathematic communication of students. After the following cooperative education type STAD, (2) To understand students’ activity cooperative learning process type STAD, and (3) To understand perception that gives to the students for cooperative education type STAD. This research is about students’ action research (Penelitian Tindakan Kelas - PTK) was done in SMA Negeri 1 Bangko Pusako Jalan Lintas Riau Sumut Kompleks Pendidikan Pematang Ibul, of the academic years 2010/2011 the subject of the research is especially in the first class the total member of the population was 21 students, 9 boys and 12 girls .The object of the research is the student ability of mathematics communication and education strategy kooperatif type STAD. This research consists of two cycles. That is the first cycle about 3 learning prossess and the second is about 3 learning process. The ability mathematics communication students was done in the first and the last every cycle. The result of the research is: to increase the ability mathematic communication of student X class SMA by applied cooperative education type STAD. These research support by result of the research that is: (a) Evaluation result test mathematic communication of student at the last first cycle that 57,74; the hight score 93,75 and the low score 15,63; is 12 persons as able and 9 persons as unable, and classical complete 57,14%; and (b) Results of evaluation test mathematics of student in the last second cycles total score 76,40; the high scores 92,68; and the low scores 51,22 as able 19 persons as unable, 2 persons and classical complete 90,48%; (2) Education with used cooperative education type STAD could make students ability with categories in learning process, and (3) education with used cooperative education type STAD could given positive perception to students in learning process. According to the result of the research, the research is useful for: (1) Education of mathematic with cooperative education type stad can be one of the education alternative and effective in crease ability mathematics communication of students, (2) Results of the research can be advice for the school to grow up quality in education, (3) Result of the research can be advice for the teacher in resources teacher ability in learning process so the students activity and students perception in learning process can grow up.
