Abstract

The purpose of this research is to develop learning media in reading narrative text for students of class XI SMAN 10 Medan. This research was conducted using Research and Development (R&D) design through six stages, namely; collecting information and data, analyzing data, designing materials, expert validation, revision and final product. The subjects of this study were students of grade XI of
SMAN 10 Medan. Data was collected by interviewing English teachers, observation and distributing questionnaires to 33 students to get the needs of students in learning. The results of the interviews and questionnaires prove that
students need English learning media that can motivate them to better understand reading narrative texts. Before applying the quiz to students, the quiz was first
validated or tested for feasibility by validators. There were two validators, an English education lecturer and an English teacher who teaches at SMAN 10 Medan. The result of the product was a quiz consisting of ten multiple-choice
questions. In the quiz, there are two narrative text stories of legend type. The results of the validation showed that the quiz media using scratch is feasible to be used in learning to read narrative text with a percentage of 94.1%.
