Abstract
This study is about Project Based Learning Model in Teaching Writing Analytical
Exposition Text at Eleventh Grade in SMA YPI Amir Hamzah Medan. The aim of
this research was to describe the used of Project Based Learning Model in
teaching writing analytical exposition text at eleventh grade in SMA YPI Amir
Hamzah Medan. The data of this study was taken from the teacher’s activities in
teaching and learning process at eleventh grade students in SMA YPI Amir
Hamzah Medan 2021/2022. The research design of this study were descriptive
qualitative research. The data were analyzed by using Stoller, (2006) theory of the
stages of Project Based Learning. The instrument of collecting data were video
recorder, observation sheet and field notes. In teaching writing skill of analytical
exposition text at eleventh grade in SMA YPI Amir Hamzah Medan used Project
Based Learning Model. The teacher used three stages and six learning activities
namely: Planning (Choosing project topic, Pre-communicative activities,
Designing project plan), Implementation (Finishing the project), Reporting
(Assessing the project results, Evaluating the project).
