Abstract

The goal of this study was to investigate the types of students’ perception on speaking skills with animated video and to explore the reasons caused perception on speaking skills with animated video as the way they do. The data were
obtained from seventh grade students at SMPN 35 Medan. This research used descriptive qualitative method. The data would be collected by using interview and observation. The types of perception that emerged in this study were two of the
four types of perception, namely visual perception and auditory perception. Recommendation for English teachers are expected to be able to develop other interesting learning tools with the aim of improving students' abilities in learning English.
