Abstract
This research is about the teacher‘s strategy in teaching reading descriptive text at SMA Nasrani 3 Medan. The objectives of this research is to find out the
teachers‘ strategies in teaching reading comprehension in descriptive text and to explore the implementation of strategies in teaching reading comprehension with
descriptive text from the English teacher. The research design of this research is qualitative research. The research data were taken from observation by using
camera recorder and interview by using voice recorder with English teacher. Data analysis in this study, researchers used the data reduction, data display, drawing conclusion and verification. The result of this research is that the process of implementing the strategies used by teachers in teaching reading descriptive texts in accordance with decodas theory, namely the question generating and answering
strategies and the findings of the interview results show that teachers use question generating and answering strategies because they are in accordance with the
learning styles of students at SMAS Nasrani 3 Medan.
