Abstract
This study aims to observe the implementation of Teacher talk by Female and Male in Smpn 17 Medan. The obejectives of this study to analyze Teacher talk verbal communication used by female and male teacher in delivering material,
giving instructions, and interacting with students during the learning process. The research method used is descriptive qualitative, with direct and indirect Influence.
The observation and interview transcript of classroom interactions as the main data collection techniques. The research results show that there are several differences in the use of teacher talk categories between female and male teachers. Female Teacher did not apply 3 out of the 6 Indirect Influence categories there are namely jokes, Uses ideas of students, and Repeats student response verbatim,
meanwhile, male Teacher applied all categories. The Direct influence category most often used by female and male teacher is Asking question which helped students learn mentally and is more perfect in receiving information. Also asking a question is a simple way or method teacher teaching method that is considered quite effective in improving students' thinking abilities and also the quality
learning outcomes and other most categories used by Female and Male teacher is Giving directions to students the teacher expects students to achieve learning objectives well.
