Abstract

This research aims to find out what problems teachers face when teaching in the classroom and to find out how teachers manage the class in learning English at the school. This research uses a qualitative research design with observation, interview and documentation research methods. The data sources are two teachers who teach English subjects in VII-B and VIII-B classes at SMP Negeri 1 Bosar Maligas. The results of this research show that there are two problems faced by teachers when teaching English in the classroom, including students' motivation and class discipline. And the classroom management strategies used by teachers in these schools include the physical setting of the classroom, the management of the teaching and learning process, and the physical environment of the classroom.
The reseach show that there are several management emplemented by English teacher such as the teacher role, grouping students, giving feedback, seating arrangement, and the physical environment of the classroom. Then, the suggestion that can be conveyed in this research is that teachers and educational staff at SMP Negeri I Bosar Maligas can continue to make efforts to improve the quality of the
school to create a conducive and representative learning environment for students.
